Sabaydii,
Here is the continuation of a series ‘Coming home’ entitled ‘Mahosot hospital’
Hakphaang,
Kongkeo Saycocie

Passing by Mahosot hospital
Seeing a man limping by
An image conjured up in my mind
That was me
Not long after the new regime took over
Infected with the polio
I walked limpidly
Like a duck
Just coming out of a pool of water
Remember
Coming from a big family
With not enough to pass around
But plenty of community works to do
Someone had to take a toll
Foolish as it may be
Glad that it was me
For now the country was living in me
Through its hardship
Hopes and dreams
If needed it be
I don’t mind
Limping all the way through life
Just that my country could shine
I will gladly exchange my life for
Seeing the like of me again
I shed tears
For the innocence lost
The time waste
And the dream shattered
Never again would I
Befooled by an ideology
So much in promise
But so little in reality
May the limping image
Be the last I see in my beloved country
Never again
Others will go through
This silly sort of things
